Around 11 p.m. yesterday evening, four young women, standing almost completely stoic, took the stage last night at Boston’s Brighton Music Hall. Clad in all black, save for the lead singer’s bleach blonde hair, the group stood silently for a few seconds, taking in the crowd that braved the cold weather to watch them perform. In what seemed like an instant, the once stoic group, with the first strum of guitar, suddenly flipped a switch and captivated an entire crowd. These four women are collectively known as the Dum Dum Girls.
In a music scene where headliners perform by typing on MacBooks and turning switches on mixers for a crowd of black-clad, non-dancing, pierced white people, Andre Obin went as hard as anyone possibly could.
